Shermin Payne Obituary

Shermin DuanePayne 12/8/38 ~ 12/28/02  Shermin Duane Payne, 64, passed away in his sleep December 27, 2002. He was born Dec 8, 1938 in Provo, UT to Harry Berthel and LaRetta Moon Payne. He married DeAnn Goode in the Manti LDS Temple July 18, 1958. He believed he had chosen the finest woman in the world for his wife and the mother of his children. Their lives have been dedicated to their family. He loved to go for long drives. He was a talented artist. He loved people and made many friends. He served a mission at Temple Square and loved talking about the gospel. We are grateful for the Faye Case Care Center staff for their kind care. We are comforted to know he is free of painful and frustrating illnesses. He loved to fish and teach people how, and now he will really be able to find out about "old Jake's secrets." He is survived by his wife of 43 years; two daughters and seven sons, Jeff (Lori) Payne, Heber, Brian (Jill) Payne, Centerville, Teresa (Dean) Jacobson, Kent, WA, Craig (Natalie) Payne, Kaysville, Mark (Joie) Payne, West Jordan, Alan Payne, Layton, Dan (Lisa) Payne, Houston, TX, Kevin (Shelley) Payne, Layton, KristiAnn (Eric) Johnson, West Valley; 26 grandchildren; mother, LaRetta Moon Payne; brothers, Lawrence, Harry, A. Edward Payne; and sister, Maralyn Harmston. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Fri. Jan 3, 2003 West Jordan LDS 43rd Ward Chapel, 6695 S. 2200 W. Friends may call Thurs. 6-8 p.m. Mc-Dougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd, and Fri. at the church 9:30-10:15 a.m. prior to services. Burial, American Fork Cemetery.

Mark,

I don't know if you remember me from Zions Security, but I was just thinking of you this morning when I cam across your dad's obituary. I'm sorry for your loss, I really liked your dad even though I only met him a couple of times. I pray that all is well with your Joie and your family. Again I am sorry for you loss.

Just a short note to say we are grateful for the example of the Payne family. We enjoyed each of you when you lived in our Ward many years ago, but we remember as though it was yesterday. Each of you played a major part of the neighborhood and our community. We have especially enjoyed seeing Craig and Natalie from time to time, and they have kept us posted on the various activities of the family. May each of you be blessed in your hour of need, and may we pray that each of you will be granted all the rightious desires of your hearts. With the gospel this is but a small moment in the plan of salvation, without the gospel it means the end for so many.

Again thanks for your example.

Gratefully,

Launa & Bill gee
