Sophus Bertelson Obituary

Sophus Eugene Bertelson Gene   Sophus Eugene 'Gene' Bertelson, age 81, died February 16, 2004 at his home in Oceanside, CA.  He was born October 28, 1922, in Ephraim, UT to Sophus Gilbert Bertelson and Mae Labelle Jensen Bertelson. Gene attended schools in Ephraim, including Snow College, and graduated from Henager Business College with a degree in Business Administration. He served in the Army during World War II; his tour of duty was in England. He married Betty Wing Faircloth on September 10, 1946 in Rosemead, CA; they then made their home in Salt Lake City. In 1951 they moved to Southern California, where Gene worked as a corporate accountant until his retirement in 1984. Gene enjoyed traveling to England and many other vacation destinations with his wife Betty; they especially like to return to Utah to visit with dear friends and relatives there. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty, daughters Kris Bertelson-Williams and Julie Reisman, sister Norman Sullivan, and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by sisters Gayle McDevitt and Audrey McDevitt, and nephew Richard McDevitt. Cremation was handled by the Neptune Society; at the request of the deceased, no services are planned at this time. Memorial donations, if you wish, may be sent to N. County Times Charities Fund, 207 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Escondido, CA. 92025.
