Susan Bagley Obituary

Susan Rasmussen Bagley
1952 ~ 2017
Susan Elaine Rasmussen Bagley died at home at the age of 65 on November 13, 2017 after a brave struggle with kidney cancer.
Susan was born on January 19, 1952 in Los Angeles, California to Karl Marvin and Dorothy Hunter Rasmussen. She attended BYU where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design and Art History. She settled in Salt Lake City, Utah after marrying Jack Ronald Bagley on September 17, 1975 in the Salt Lake Temple. They shared 42 wonderful years.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Susan had a firm testimony of the gospel and enjoyed serving in the church especially the Young Women. Two things that exemplify her life are love and service. Susan's legacy will be her sweet, tender, compassionate heart. She loved everyone she met and always made others feel loved and welcomed and found ways to serve those around her. She cherished her family and was happiest when her children and grandchildren were at her side. She had a rewarding life raising her family, traveling the world fostering her love for art, and laboring in the family restaurants. Susan will be remembered for the creative Halloween costumes she made and the blankets she crocheted. She was an exquisite cook and loved making elaborate meals for her friends and family. More than anything, Susan loved spending time with her family, playing bingo with grandchildren and creating perfect Mickey Mouse pancakes.
Susan is survived by her husband, Ron Bagley; children Amy (Nathaniel) Madsen, Ryan (Diana), Dallin (Betsy), Kara, Kate (Nicholas) Winther, and Lori (Charles) Putnam; sisters Jolene (John) Darrington and Kathy (Ron) Rodda; 15 grandchildren and many other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Karl Marvin Rasmussen and Dorothy Elaine Hunter.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Butler Hill Chapel (2695 East 7000 South, Cottonwood Heights), with a viewing from 9:30-10:45 a.m. An additional viewing will be held Monday, November 20, 2017 at Cannon Mortuary (2460 East Bengal Blvd.) from 6-8 p.m. Interment Mountain View Memorial Estates.

Susan was such a gift to me--a true friend. I loved her wisdom, her easy laugh, or compassion and love for others. She nurtured an outstanding family. I still think of her often, of her love, her passion for knowledge and culture, and her fun way with all of us. It will be a beautiful day when we see her again.

We have thought of Susan many times since her passing. She was such a ray of sunshine to all of us. She was firm in the faith with a willingness to serve always. Her intellect was so enjoyed by all. Her knowledge of the arts helped inspire us and reach beyond our grasps to see the world in new and beautiful ways. Her character was perfect. And her personality just plain delightful. It will be a joyous day when we are again reunited with her.

The world has been a little worse off the last two years. Whenever a person who lifts others like Susan did leaves this world, their absence is noticed ! I hope that all who knew Susan here on earth will continue her legacy by putting others before themselves !!!

I only recently learned of Sue' s passing. I send my sincere condolences to her family. She was an amazing neighbor to my sister, Beverly Bawden. I remember the food she shared and the compassion she offered. I loved talking with Sue whenever I saw her. She was a kind friend to me.

Ron,

Oh my goodness, when I saw this today I was so shocked. The "Bagley" family was such a huge part of us the "Clark" family back in the day. Soooo many memories Erik and I have with you and SUSAN in Boy's Scouts... oh my gosh.. so many. My heart is heavy for all of you. We sooo loved Susan. She really was so talented and creative.. our events in Boy's Scouts would not have been what they were if it wasn't for her. When I moved back just 4 yrs ago and saw you two a couple of times it was as if I never left.. so loving and a flood of wonderful memories...can't forget those Subway sandwiches... Sending my love and prayers to ALL of you. You were the BEST! Susan.. thank you....
