Susan Robinson Obituary

1946 ~ 2011
Susan Gardner Robinson passed away after a three year battle with cancer on Sunday October 30, 2011. Susan was born on August 18, 1946 in Louisville KY to Ralph V. and Bernice (Wheat) Gardner. Susan is survived by her husband of 28 years, David I. Robinson Tucker, GA; stepsons, David A. Robinson (Hope) Dunwoody, GA; Stephen A. Robinson (Sharon) Atlanta, GA; Joel W. Robinson (Keely), Richmond, VA; Paul M. Robinson, Marietta, GA. Survived also by father Ralph V. Gardner, Colonel (Retired), Salt Lake City, UT and sisters, Barbara Gardner, Salt Lake City, UT and Kathryn G. Aldridge, St. George, UT.
Susan grew up as an Army Brat in Germany, Japan, McLean VA, Salt Lake City UT, Mississippi, Texas, and Washington. Susan obtained her BA at the University of Utah and an MA from Georgia State. Susan was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a youth leader and teacher for more than 20 years. She taught early morning Seminary for six years, was Stake Young Women president for six years, and served in her Ward in the Young Women, Primary and Relief Society. She retired from the State of Georgia, DeKalb Mental Health system after 34 years of service.
Susan served on the national board of the United States Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association and was a founding member of the Georgia Chapter where she also served as President. She also served on the national board of the International Association of Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services.
Susan loved to travel, visiting Europe numerous times, enjoying being with friends and family as she did so.
Her funeral was held in the Atlanta Stake Center in Tucker, GA on November 2nd, 2011. Interment will be in the Salem City Cemetery, 130 East 965 South
Salem, UT at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 5th 2011. Friends and acquaintances are invited to join the family there for a graveside service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
