TED SCOTTORN Obituary

Ted Frink Scottorn 1950 ~ 2009 Ted Frink Scottorn, age 59, passed away peacefully with his brother and close friend by his side, Nov. 18, 2009, in Provo, UT from complications of COPD and Emphyzema.Ted was born April 24, 1950, to Elizabeth Lee and John L. (Jack) Scottorn in Fillmore, UT, where he called home for most of his life. Ted joined the Navy in 1970 and was so proud for the opportunity to serve his country and felt like he earned the name "Ole Sailor." He toured many places including Hong Kong, Thailand, Philippines, Hawaii, Guam, and Singapore along with many others. His last tour was in 1991 where he served in Desert Storm in the Cargo Handling Battalion as a First Class Boatsman Mate. Ted retired from the Navy in 1997 with an Honorable Discharge and received various honors and awards. Ted made many friends not only in the Navy and local Cafes but every where he went. Some of his special friends that loved and cared for him so much he made the past two years of his life at the Victorian House Assisted Living in Levan. Although it was hard for Ted to give up his freedom and past life style, Ted truly made a change that he was proud of and wanted everyone to recognize. Ted truly showed love and compassion to those that he was around and was truly a man of "Service" and will be missed by all that knew him. Ted is survived by three brothers, Jack L. Scottorn of Sierra Vista, AZ; David M. Scottorn of Green Brier, TN; and Thomas K. Scottorn of Fillmore, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, sister-in-law Tina Scottorn and a brother who died at birth. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov 25, 2009, at the Fillmore City Cemetery. At Ted's request there will be no viewing. Interment will be in the Fillmore City Cemetery with Military Honors under the direction of Olpin Funeral Home. A special thanks to Doctors and staff at the Fillmore Community Medical Center, Central Valley Hospital and Home Health, Julie Chase, and the Staff at the Victorian House Assisted Living for all their love and concern for Ted.
