Thomas Tanner Obituary

1966 ~ 2011
Thomas Jeffrie Tanner passed away November 17, 2011 with his family by his side. Jeff battled with liver and kidney failure and was valiant in his fight against the disease. We will miss Jeff's beautiful blue eyes and his tender heart. Jeff married April DeWitt June 28, 1991 and had just celebrated their 20th anniversary. Together they raised their son Thomas Jeffrie Tanner (TJ). Jeff leaves them a legacy of love and precious memories along with his parents Larry and Charlene Tanner and his sister Jennie Tanner-Jelsma and husband Thomas Jelsma. He also leaves many nieces and a nephew saddened by the loss.
Jeff was born May 10, 1966 in Salt Lake City and attended Woods Cross High School and the University of Utah. He was Vice President of Tanner Glass and Hardware. He was a very generous employer and a friend to all. Everyone Jeff met wanted to be his friend. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tease. Jeff loved the rain, Willie Nelson and Lake Powell. He regularly had breakfast with his long-time friends John, Doug, Mike, Larry, Jeremy and Leland. Saturday mornings will never be the same at Market Street Grill.
We would like to express our gratitude to all of the doctors, nurses and caregivers at the IMC Shock Trauma floor as well as the transplant team who took such good care of Jeff in his last days. Their kindness to Jeff and his family will never be forgotten. Jeff was gracious enough to donate his eyes for medical research and would have wanted everyone to consider organ donation for him or herself. Our family will be making contributions to the American Liver Foundation.
Jeff did not want to be grieved for, so a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. For details please contact Larkin Mortuary.
