I was shocked to discover that Thon Gin had died just a few weeks ago. He was a friend of our dad Walt O'Toole and Dad spoke very highly of him. I remember being at Thon and Betty's house as a young girl and picking peaches in the yard with Thon's mother, who spoke no English. I also remember Cindy and would love to have contact with her (I am a doctor can be found on the web). I wish to extend deepest condolences on behalf of my whole family, but especially on behalf of our Dad, who died long before Thon in 1983.

Our family will miss your father and grandfather. He visited our parents and I know they enjoyed each other´s company.
Your father was always congenial and kind. He was humble in spite of all his worldly achievements, and I knew our parents respected him.
A sweet man to meet again one day.

Gin family...please accept my belated and heart felt sympathy over the passing of your father and our dear friend Thon. We loved him. He is such a great man and a very dear friend of Gordon's. Words cannot express how precious his friendship was to our father. God bless.

So sorry to hear of Thon´s passing. He will be missed so much. He was a true gentleman and patient boss. I can also hear his voice in my mind, as well. He was so kind, funny and intelligent. I remember once we had a dispute over the identification of a certain green mineral which was prevalent in the area of Susanville California. He brought out an optical microscope, prepared a thin section slide and after examining the crystal happily announced its name and settled the matter.

We were saddened to hear of Thon Gin's passing. We live just up the street and always enjoyed our friendship with him. He was always so upbeat and positive--a truly lovely man. I have missed seeing him the past few days--he was always walking with his walker up and down the street, and I loved to stop and chat with him--I always left feeling happy--he knew how to uplift people. We will miss him.

My parents, both are gone, lived next door to Thon and Betty since 1960. They were wonderful neighbors. Because my son is in my parents home, I often saw Thon out working in his yard. He was so friendly when I would stop and say hi. I can still hear his laugh in my mind. He remembered me every time. End of a long friendship. :)

My Grandfather served with Thon in the Army Air Corps during WWII. In the mid 2000's I spoke with him and shared a few things...very nice man. My condolences.
