Virginia Adele Russell Hoskisson

1928 - 2022 / In Loving Memory

Logan, Utah—The world lost an amazing soul when Virginia Adele (Russell) Hoskisson passed away on April 16, 2022, in Logan, Utah, at 93 years old. The youngest of David and Mary Russell's four children, Virginia was born in Provo, Utah on November 9, 1928, and grew up in Eureka, Utah. She earned an English degree from Brigham Young University, then embarked on an award-winning career teaching elementary school. On December 28, 1953, she married Kenneth Hoskisson in the Salt Lake City temple. They spent ten years teaching in Department of Defense schools in Germany and France and traveling throughout Europe and the Middle East. After moving to California in 1967, their family moved to Blacksburg, Virginia, in 1971, where she lived until moving to Logan in 1994.

Virginia felt a sense of awe in nature and enjoyed outdoor activities like swimming, hiking, skiing, and excelled at playing tennis, her favorite sport. Her beautiful singing voice blessed choirs wherever she lived, and she especially enjoyed listening to classical music. This same love applied to art, literature, and poetry.

Virginia's kindness touched so many lives and she will be greatly missed by all fortunate to know her. She is survived by her husband Kenneth, daughters Tam and Heather, son Mark, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. The family will be holding a graveside service and celebration of her life at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, Utah at a time and date TBD in the next 3-6 months. Details will be posted on the Larkin obituary website a month or more before the celebration.
