Wayne Drysdale Obituary

1924 ~ 2012
Wayne Clair Drysdale died peacefully Saturday, February 25, 2012 at his home in Sandy Utah. He was 87 years old. Wayne was born in Provo, Utah on October 8, 1924-the only child of Orvil Clair and Iva Rebecca Jones Drysdale. Wayne joined the Navy and studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Texas. After graduation, he returned to Utah and married Norma Workman on May 7, 1948 in the Women's Clubhouse in Provo. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on May 17. 1957 and would never part. Wayne and Norma had four sons, Scott (Robin), Bryce (Debbie), Dean (Karla), and Chris (Kristin), plus 16 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren. The couple had served proudly as full-time missionaries at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. Wayne left Norma behind for a season and was welcomed on the other side by his Mother and Father and son Dean. At Wayne's request, a brief graveside service will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens (1950 East 10600 South) with indoor visitation from 12:30-1:45. Email condolences at www.larkincares.com. The family would like to thank all the friends who loved and cared for Wayne throughout life including most recently several home health agencies and the staff at Atria of Sandy. Wayne loved his wife and family, computers, Pepsi, popcorn, scenic drives, warm weather, lemon drops and short obituaries.

Uncle Wayne always had and smile and something to tease you about or just to make you laugh. I loved his humor, his wit. We are all blessed to know him. We love your dear family and want you to know that our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Dear Scott, Bryce, and Chris,
When I think about Uncle Wayne and your family, a flood of memories come to my mind. I loved having you live so close to us.
Uncle Wayne was kind enough to share his computer knowledge with me. When I was called as Director of Church Building Hosting on Temple Square I wasn't familiar with the Church's computer system. You probably didn't know this, but he came to my office downtown and sat at the computer with me and gave me a lesson on the PC. I will always be grateful to him for teaching me but mostly for giving me much needed confidence.
Please express my love to Aunt Norma, classy lady.

Dear Bryce and Debbie
Sorry to hear about the loss of your father/father-in-law. Nice to know of the Plan set up so we can all be together someday. My thoughts are with you at this time.

I remember Uncle Wayne always teasing us as young girls at the cabin at West Piney and whenever and wherever we had a family get together. I think I remember him telling us that he had to tease his nieces because he didn't have any girls of his own to tease. We loved teasing him back and went out of our way to do it! I remember his fun laugh. Love and condolences to all your family, especially Aunt Norma.
Love,
Judy and Rallie Brown

We will miss you. You will not be forgotten. The popcorn machine will be lonesome, too.
