We met when he was teaching at the U in 1962, he brought me to Scott & Louie and taught me more about architecture than anybody. We flew and camped in southern Utah and Alaska, and designed a house together in Wyoming. We flew the Husky and we flew the glider. A significant friend and mentor in my life. He will be greatly missed.

What a privilege it was to know Bill. I knew him in college when I dated one of his friends and when he visited my roommates and me on a regular basis. After Diane's death, he married a dear friend of ours, Ann Castleton Blackner, so our friendship continued. I always enjoyed Bill's conversation; always witty, often biting, and usually cynical, but with humor. Bill had a good and long life, but it saddens me to acknowledge that his journey has come to an end. Ashby also sends his condolences to Ann & their families. RIP, Bill. Long-time friend, fraternity brother and comrade in arms. I will miss the man, the lunches, the conversations, the many laughs and the friendship. One of the best. He will be remembered and missed. Jan and I send our love to Anne and the family. RIP my friend.

We are so sorry to hear about Bill’s passing. I enjoyed the conversations about the work he did on the building earlier in his career and appreciated his humor and grace. He will be missed. With deepest condolences, Jason and Laura Butler
