Draper, UT-William Robert Mole (Rob), JD, MBA, passed away, age 73, on June 24. He was a loving father and grandfather, known for his lifelong fascination with aerospace and travel.

An alumni of JE Cosgriff and Judge Memorial, Rob was an excellent swimmer and placed high in the Utah State Swimming Championships all four years at Judge, taking high placements in his age group competition and AAU events. He was also an accomplished skier and active in student government.

Before college, he attended the American School in Lugano, Switzerland. He graduated from Georgetown University in Washington, DC; obtained a law degree at Santa Clara School of Law in Santa Clara, California, and also earned a Masters of International Business Management at the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Phoenix, Arizona.

He joined Lockheed Martin in Burbank, CA in 1980. Throughout his career at Lockheed Martin, he was deeply involved with government contracts as well as the L-1011 TriStar, a wide-body airliner known for its advanced aeronautics. He was a key figure in the development of the heat shield for the NASA Space Shuttle Program. During the late 80's and early 90's, Rob represented Lockheed Martin as President of the Paris, France Office and later, the Tokyo, Japan Office. He rounded out his career with L-3 Communications in Utah, until he retired in 2015.

Rob's retirement was busy with promoting his own company, The Perry Group. He sought to modify Boeing 747 aircraft to be more efficient through re-engining them with modern engines.

Although he traveled extensively throughout his career, he would always try to be home with his son, Will, for important milestones and family events. Will was the joy of his life. He and Will would go on many adventures together; mostly in search of airplanes and good food! Rob was thrilled when his only grandson, William (Brian )Mole joined the family.

Rob is survived by his son, William Thomas Mole, and his grandson, William Brian Mole; his brothers, Michael Mole and Craig Mole. A funeral mass will be held at 10 am Saturday, July 13 at St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church, 1505 White Pine Canyon Road in Park City. An Irish Wake will be held later in the day, location and time to be determined.
