Chavarria

1st Lt. USMC (Retired) Manuel T. Chavarria entered into rest on November 29, 2006 at the age of 65. He was born on April 6, 1941 in San Antonio, Texas. He is preceded in death by his father, Bruno E. Chavarria, mother, Maria Trevino Chavarria, brothers, Basilio T. Chavarria, Santos T. Chavarria, Bruno T. Chavarria, Roger T. Chavarria. He is survived by his sons Raymond Chavarria (Patricia) from Modesto, CA, Eloy G. Chavarria (Elsa) from San Antonio, TX, Edwin W. Chavarria from Ogden, Utah, Alejandro Chavarria (Jiyeon) from Oceanside, CA, Gabriel Chavarria from Phoenix, AZ, daughters: Barbara J. Chavarria from San Antonio, TX, Angela M. Chavarria from Yuma, AZ, sisters: Julia Huichan, Janet R. Blue, brothers: Jesse T. Chavarria (Rosemary), Gilbert T. Chavarria (Genoveva) from Virginia, Armando T. Chavarria (Rachel) from San Antonio, TX, 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Chavarria attended Lanier H.S. from 1955-1959. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1959 to 1975. He also attended St. Mary's University in the 70's. He served two tours in Vietnam, was awarded a Silver & Bronze star with (V) device for "Valor" and two Purple Hearts. He retired from Kelly AFB and lived in Yuma, AZ for 23 years. The family would like to give special thanks to all caregivers at Christus Santa Rosa VNA Hospice Center. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christus Santa Rosa VNA Hospice Center. Visitation will begin on Monday, December 4, 2006 from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm at Castillo Mission Funeral Home. Funeral procession will depart the funeral home on Tuesday, December 5th at 11:30 am for a 12:00 pm mass at St. John Berchman's Catholic Church, 1147 Cupples Rd. Interment will follow to Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of: Castillo Mission Funeral Home.
