null Hall Obituary

Frank E. Hall, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 18, 2006, at the age of 91. He was born on May 16, 1915 in Clarendon, Texas, to his proud parents, Mary Alice and David Louis Hall. Frank grew up on the family ranch working along side his wonderful eleven brothers and sisters. They had a cattle and chicken business and leased acreage to farmers who grew cotton and vegetables. He always told everyone his family survived the Depression with lots of good beef and chicken and other foods from the farm and his mother fed anyone who came along that was hungry. After high school, Frank and his brothers, Luke and Donnelly, went to work as roustabouts for Shamrock Oil and Gas. It was a dangerous job in the 1930's, keeping the oil wells working and going without any accidents or explosions. In 1940 after suffering from asthma in the Plains of the Panhandle for years, the doctor finally recommended Frank move to San Antonio for health reasons. Upon arriving in San Antonio his health began to immediately improve. He lived with his sister, Bernice and her husband until he could get out on his own. He began working for Yellow Freight Lines and in 1951 met the love of his life, Patsy Chandler, from Laredo. After a short courtship they married in Laredo and went to Monterrey, Mexico for a wonderful honeymoon they reminisced about until Patsy's untimely death in 1996. Frank had a long career with Leeway and then Southern Pacific until his retirement. Frank and Patsy had four children they shared their wonderful gift of faith with. There are many fond memories from times spent on the family ranch learning to rope and ride and learning the operations of a ranch from Frank's brother Marvin and wife Rose. The Texas seashore was a special place where Frank enjoyed summer vacations with his wife and children all of whom survive him: Pam Cummings and husband Sam of Denver, Colorado, Wendy Schorlemer and husband Carroll of San Antonio, Dana Thomas and husband Mark of San Antonio, and Stephen Hall also of San Antonio. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kevin Cummings and wife Tara, Matthew Cummings and wife Cynthia, Lindsay Young, Austin Young, and Nicole Thomas, and by two great grandchildren Catlynn Cummings and Cameron Cummings. Nieces and nephews he loved and adored include Carroll and Barbara, Beth and Wes, Jeannie and Billy, Jack, Kay and Glenn, Patsy and Larry, Sue, Bill, Jim, Jack, Jenna, Donnie, Dale, Joe, Bob, Sarah, Linda, Carroll, Audrey and Chris and all their spouses, his sister Dee Dee Bryant, and sisters-in-law Ruth Hall Butler, Jean Hall, Marion Chandler and Jean Chandler. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Johnny, Mabel, Thelma, Ellen, Marvin, Everett, Bernice, Donnelly, Luke, and Fred and his oldest daughter Linda Darlene Hall. Frank was a kind, generous, gentle man who loved the Lord, his church and his family. He never met a stranger and would help anyone he could. His philosophy was honesty, integrity and sharing his blessings with those in need. His love of reading and politics was with him to the end as he was upset the hospital didn't have voting booths set up, as he always preached to us that every vote counts! Though we will miss our Daddy, Grandpa, Uncle, and friend to everyone, we know that God has always prepared a green pasture for this old cowboy in Heaven. The family would like to thank Dr. Mendelssohn, Dr. Pontius, Dr. Benson, Dr. Randall Bell and Dr. Enriques for their exceptional care and all the nurses at Methodist Hospital. A funeral service will be held Monday, November 27, 2006 at 12:00 at St. David's Episcopal Church at 1300 Wiltshire. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, remembrances be directed to the church or charity of your choice.
