With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Abel Lozano Rodriguez on September 14, 2025, at the age of 75. A proud San Antonio native, Abel was born to Abel G. and Armandina Rodriguez and graduated from Fox Tech High School in 1968. He served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and continued in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.
After his military service, Abel served 30 distinguished years with the San Antonio Police Department. In retirement, he remained committed to supporting various law enforcement organizations.
Abel was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. A man of faith and service, he was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved fishing, traveling, and sharing meals with loved ones, always putting others first.
He is survived by his children Abel Jason (Diane), Elliot Isaac, and Leslie Ann (Mark); his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and longtime companion Gloria Munoz.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 1, at 9:30 a.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Treviño. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Fort Sam National Cemetery at 11:15 am.

Abel and I were in the same graduating class in 1975 from the San Atonio Police Department. Abel was always a positive person, always smiling even when things seemed to be very physically demanding. Rest in Peace Abel, you fought the good fight
