Alvord Rutherford Obituary

Alvord Beretta 'Skip'' Rutherford passed away in a local hospital on Wednesday, September 5, 2001. Born in Honolulu, HI, April 28, 1940. Skip was raised in San Antonio. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Austin Beretta; father, Col. Alvord Rutherford and stepfather, John Ward Beretta. He attended San Antonio Academy, the Eaglebrook School, graduated from the Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA and Williams College, where he was an All-American soccer player and President of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He graduated from the University of Texas Law School and earned a Master's in Tax Law from New York University. He was a member of the German Club, the Order of the Alamo, the Texas Cavaliers, the Conopus Club, Beta Theta Pi and St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Skip is survived by two sons, John Rutherford and his wife Colleen and granddaughter, Katelin of Chicago, IL and Andrew Crighton Rutherford and his wife Kristin of Dallas; sisters, Mary Austin 'Sissy' Rutherford Klingman and husband Walter of Boerne and Jacqueline Rather Beretta of San Antonio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2001 at 10:00 A.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Dr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Moore, Travis Bailey, Weir Labatt, John LeFlore, Byron LeFlore, John Gaddis, Dr. Chris Kopecky and Walter Klingman. Arrangements are with: Mission Park North Funeral Home.
