Amelia Hurtado Obituary

AMELIA HURTADO
July 27, 1941 - March 9, 2026
Amelia Hurtado went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2026, at 84 years of age. She was born in Houston, TX, on July 27, 1941, to the late Jesus and Maria Magdalena De Los Santos.

Amelia was one of a kind-her selfless soul a light within a dark room. She is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Liborio Hurtado, and her loving children: Liborio Hurtado III (Rose), Diana Hurtado Hernandez, Rosemary Mireles (Robert), Raul Hurtado, Albert Hurtado (Mary), and Angela Hurtado (Rudy).

Her legacy continues through her many grandchildren: Liborio Hurtado IV, Michael Hurtado, Joseph Rodriguez, Ashley Hernandez, Avery Hurtado, Amber Hurtado, Ryan Mireles, George Vaca, Saul Hernandez, Miranda Hurtado, Arianna Hurtado Lujan (Nate), Seth Hurtado, Noah Vaca, and Jakob Vaca, as well as her great-grandchildren: Paul, Amelia, Aliyanna, Adrian, and Kamira.

She also leaves behind her sisters, Mary Helen Jasso and Virginia Alvarado. She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Aurora Navarette; Gilbert Navarette; and Theresa De Los Santos.

Amelia was not just the matriarch of her family, she was the backbone, showing strength and devotion in everything she did for them, always, and we mean always, putting her family and others before herself. A devoted mother and wife, she spent her days cooking for her husband and family, upholding family traditions, keeping the house organized, and taking care of all the day-to-day duties of the household.
She also loved tending to her plants and family pets. Her family will thoroughly miss her great-tasting tamales, empanadas, and her Thanksgiving dinners.

She was deeply beloved by her entire family, friends, and all those who had the pleasure of meeting her. Her husband will truly miss the love of his life, as life will not be the same for him without her. Her entire family will miss her dearly, but a small ray of light remains in knowing that one day we will see her again in heaven, in Jesus' name.

A visitation will be held at from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Ave, 78212.

A procession from Porter Loring Mortuary will take place at 9:30 am on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 with a Mass at 10:00 am at St Ann's Catholic Church, 210 St Ann St, 78201. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
