Anita Maldonado-Ellington Obituary

Making Angels Smile Anita Maldonado-Ellington, loving wife, mother and grandmother has joined with our Lord on May 14, 2004. Anita, our beloved, was the "light" in countless lives, the "seed" of inspiration to multitudes, who displayed courage beyond reproach, even in her final hour. Many knew her as "the face of the Bexar County Courthouse", having served 41 years as Notary Public and Public Stenographer on the first floor until her retirement in 1998. Anita was born April 14, 1936 in Lake McQueeney, TX, the eldest of five sisters and two brothers. Growing up in nearby Seguin, Anita grew up in a simple home where family, worship, education and honesty were the daily focus. These rich values transcended into her everyday actions as Anita never met a stranger, rather, just a long lost friend. After graduating from Seguin High School, a young and brave Anita moved to the YWCA in San Antonio where she graduated from Durham Business College then began her career at the courthouse. As pictured above from the cover of "San Antonio Magazine", Anita was an endeared public figure who would make everyone laugh and smile with her pleasant and joyful nature. Anita's dedication and professionalism was recognized nationally in her award of "National Notary of The Year, 1993". No one was more deserving as Anita diligently used her position at the courthouse to help the public get the assistance they needed for resolving personal crises. All of us who know her have at one time or other been blessed by her angelic touch and her unbounded generosity. And for this and the relentless love she gave her family, we pray that the arms of Heaven embrace her wonderful spirit. Anita was preceded in death by her father, David Maldonado and her sister, Amelia Resendez. She is survived by her loving husband, Frank R. Ellington; her dear mother, Anita Maldonado; two sons, William K. Ellington, Robert D. Ellington and his wife Brenda; grandchildren, Adrian, Alexandria, Arica and Brooke; sisters, Alicia Salas, Rachel Salcido and Emma Rios; brothers, Dr. David Maldonado, Jr. and Alejandro Maldonado. Visitation will be held on Monday evening, May 17, 2004, 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Sunset Funeral Home, Austin Highway. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 18, 2004, 10:30 A.M. at University United Methodist Church, 5084 De Zavala Rd. Internment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park on Austin Highway. Please join us as we honor Anita, one of God's greatest gifts. Sleep peacefully, precious angel. We love you. Sunset Funeral Home.
