Beckwith Steiner, OD, FAAO, age 87, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025. He was born December 2, 1937, in Palacios, Texas, to Beckwith Sr. and Ernestein Steiner. He married Macella Lowe in 1958 and earned his Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Houston. Beckwith ran a private practice in Bay City before joining the U.S. Air Force in 1970, serving 20 years with distinction, including tours in Germany and at Wilford Hall in San Antonio. He earned numerous medals, including the Meritorious Service Medal. In retirement, he remained active with the American Legion, Sierra Club, genealogy, and the Rosicrucians. Beckwith is preceded in death by his wife and parents. He is survived by his four children, brother Leon, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be held October 20–22 in San Antonio at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd. and Palacios Cemetery. He will be remembered for his service, intellect, and kindness.
