Ben Jonietz Obituary

February 14, 1938 - November 29, 2015
Ben F. Jonietz Jr. passed from this world into the Kingdom of God on Sunday 11/29/15 after complications from heart surgery.
Ben made a life changing decision to receive Christ in July of 1995. This decision secures his eternal destiny and he is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Ben was born in San Antonio Texas on February 14, 1938. He was the beloved son of Ben Sr. and Louise Jonietz both of whom preceded him in death. Ben is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley Doyle Jonietz; children Duke Jonietz (and wife Debra), Kathy Bowen (and husband Bob), Louis Jonietz (and wife Holly); grandchildren Joshua and Jacob Jonietz, Darrell, Lindsay and Daniel Fortin, Jessica (and husband Bobby) Kennard; great grandchildren McKenna Bickford and Ben Fortin; and sister Betty (and husband Roy) Dupnick.
Ben lived a full life centered around his family, sports, business and hunting and fishing. After graduating from Central Catholic High School, he played professional baseball with the Philadelphia Phillies. Ben dreamed of owning his own business and began a successful entrepreneurial insurance career as a partner with Braley, Boggs and Jonietz and eventually helped sell the agency to Alexander and Alexander. He finished his insurance career on the day of his passing with Walthall, Sachse and Pipes. Ben loved the outdoors and for almost ten years lived in Rockport, Texas with his wife Shirley as a successful professional fishing guide under the banner of Four Bays Fishing Inc. He was an avid hunter and was always in search of the perfect buck. In fact, if you visited his office, you would see that he succeeded many times in this endeavor. Ben was a member of Lifehouse Church and was loved by his church family.
A "Celebration of Ben's Life" will be held Friday December 4, 2015 at 2pm at Lifehouse Church, 20825 Wilderness Oak, San Antonio, Texas 78258 with Pastor Ryan Coffey officiating.
A reception will be hosted by the family following the service at the Adante Senior Living Clubhouse (directions provided at the church).
In lieu of flowers and because of the great care given to Ben by the staff of Gentiva Hospice-San Antonio, the family asks that donations be maded in care of
Ben F. Jonietz to the Gentiva Hospice Foundation, 3350 Riverwood Parkway Suite 1400, Atlanta GA 30339 or online at gentivahospicefoundation.org.

Sweet Jonietz Family, What a pleasure it was to call this man our Uncle. He had a passion for life and lived it to the fullest. I will never forgot that deep laugh and all the funny Joenietz stories. He will live on in our hearts and our memories. May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:67) We loved him dearly.

Dearest Shirley and family, Ben will be greatly missed. Thank you for a beautifully written obituary honoring a very honorable man. He wasn't shy about showing his devoted love whenever Shirley's name came up in conversation. He now gazes upon the face of His Savior...what a wonderful sight it must be, too.
