Burton Gardner Shaw Sr.

Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Burton Gardner Shaw, Sr. went to meet his Lord and Savior on October 26, 2007 at the age of 73. Burton was born November 28, 1933 in San Antonio, Texas. His parents, Clyde and Jenny Shaw, preceded him in death. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Kay Stromboe Shaw; son, Burton Shaw Jr. M.D. and wife, Gloria; beloved grandchildren, Lauren, Burton III, Hayley, and Tyler Shaw; daughter, Julianne Shaw Akins and husband Jeff; beloved grandsons, Dallas, and Dillon Akins; and numerous nieces and nephews. Burton is also survived by his brothers, Clyde Shaw Jr. and wife, Roberta, and Carl Shaw and wife, Dolores; brother in law, Frank Stromboe and wife, Sharon; and sister in law, Gayle Stromboe. Burton was loved by all who knew him and he cherished their love and friendship. Truly, a special man. He retired after 42 years at Southern Pacific Railroad. He was an officer in the IBEW1911 Local Union and was a delegate several times. Burton served as Toastmaster International Area Governor and an officer for 23 years in the Alamo Chapter of the Hummel Club. Visitation will begin on Monday, October 29 at 5:00 PM with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at the Angelus Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 30, at 1:30 PM at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Little Flower where Burton served as a Eucharistic minister for 15 years.
