Carl Blackmore Obituary

Major Carl Blackmore, Jr., U.S. Army Reserve (Retired), passed away Saturday, June 30, 2001 at the age of 71 years. Mr. Blackmore was a Finance Manager for the General Motors Acceptance Corporation and also worked with FDIC. He served 27 years in U.S. Army Reserves and also served as a Texas Department of Public Safety Officer. Mr. Blackmore was very active with senior groups including the Senior Olympics. He was an avid tennis player; an active speaker with TRIAD; and a volunteer for the Bexar County Sheriff's Department. Mr. Blackmore was also a great supporter of his grandchildren's activities. He enjoyed going to their sporting events so much. He is survived by two sons, Richard M. Blackmore and Carl K. Blackmore; one daughter, Tammy Dirksen and husband Mike; five grandchildren, Christina and Meagen Blackmore, Dawn, Michael and Brittney Dirksen; one brother, Curtis N. Blackmore; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Mr. Blackmore was preceded in death by his wife, Natalie Blackmore, in 1995. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M., Wednesday at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, July 5, 2001 at Sunset Northwest Chapel with Interment to follow at Lockhill-Selma Cemetery. Sunset Funeral Home Northwest.

Mr . Blackmore was my supervisor at GMAC.. HE was a very fair & honest manager & supported the company & the employees under him to the fullest... He was never to busy to stop what he was doing to help out in any situation that may need him.. he was well liked & many of us hold him dear in our hearts ..
