Carl Holt Obituary
Carl Thomas Holt, II, born March 22, 1951 in Madison, Wisconsin, died suddenly on January 21, 2005 while living and working in Baltimore, Maryland for Southwest Airlines. He was a very young 53. Carl loved his family, and was enjoying his new job with the airlines. Prior to his employment with Southwest Airlines in October 2004, he had worked for Celanese Corporation for 25 years, a short time at Maltby Builders, Inc. and Lowes Corporation. Carl was happiest when he was cooking in his kitchen. He loved entertaining for family, friends and extended family, which included his children's friends who made regular forays into his and Debe's home for great food, hugs and fun. He will always be remembered as a loving and kind 'Dad' to all - and a loving, caring husband. Throughout their thirty-year marriage, Carl and Debe were very active in the community. Carl served on several boards and was a proud graduate of the Leadership Kingsville class. He and Debe were instrumental in the founding of KYSO where he enjoyed being a referee, head referee, equipment manager and so much more. He was active in the First United Methodist Church of Kingsville, serving on its board until he relocated to Baltimore, Maryland. Carl was often 'volunteered' by Debe to help out at one event or another with Church, the Woman's Club of Kingsville, Bluebonnets, the early years of LaPosada activities and the Mighty Brahma Band. Carl and Kenneth Hajek traveled many, many miles together hauling the band equipment to each contest and game. Carl was always happy to help out anyone in any way he could, and was always the first to volunteer his services, especially when it gave him the chance to share his culinary expertise. Survivors include his wife, Deborah 'Debe' Updike Holt, his daughter, Christina Thearesa Holt 'Christy', her fianc 5/8, Scott Estes and his son, Sam, of Farmington, New Hampshire; daughter, Marie Alice Holt of Kingsville, Texas; and one son, Carl Thomas Holt, III 'C.T', his wife, Dayna Billings, and their daughter, Daryl Bishop Holt of Kingwood, Texas, and many, many close and caring friends. Carl graduated with honors from McCollum High School, San Antonio, Texas, where his mother, Kathleen Hitt Holt Ryan and his sister Jane Holt, and half-brother, Richard Ryan still reside. He attended Texas A&I University (Texas A&M University-Kingsville) where he majored in General Business and was an active participant in the ATO fraternity. Carl was preceded in death by his father, Carl Thomas Holt, grandparents, and several aunts and uncles. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday the 29th of January at First United Methodist Church, 4th and Kleberg Streets, Kingsville, Texas. Reverend Dr. J. Jason Fry will officiate.
