RIP Brother Charles. I still think of you walking down Garney Hall 35years ago when you were my favourite Chemistry Teacher. I still remember things you taught me. RIP. JMJC

My uncle is John Cummiskey, brother to Brother Charles. I had the wonderful memories of Brother Charles coming to Virginia for Christmas' for as long as I can remember.... I am 42 years old. He spent one Christmas break helping me study for my high school Chemistry mid term. He truly "dumbed" down the subject for my non-science mind to understand. One of my top three memories of him☺
It saddens me that my uncle's health isn't well enough for him to travel to TX for Brother Charles's services. I know he will be prayering greatly though.

Our family is deeply saddened by the loss of this brilliant and deeply religious man. He was an anchor and a beacon. He was a speaker of truth yet he was fun loving. Although he held strong opinions he was not judgmental. He deeply loved and admired his fellow Marianists. He was firm but always kind.

He usually joined us (including my mom and my now grown sons) for St. Patrick's Day celebrations. He shared his love of all things Irish with my kids. He had a wonderful Irish hat and always came with decorations. I learned that he had a terrific sense of humor beneath his serious and correct demeanor.

He guided my kids in high school science projects and took great joy in their accomplishments. My youngest son wanted Brother Charles to be his grandfather because he had no living grandfathers. My kids loved him because he was excellent and trustworthy. He was a Marianist first and foremost. As a result, he was a model and someone they could deeply respect.

He was a distinguished professor and a highly regarded member of the American Chemical Society. I wish I had a list of all of his honors and accomplishments. I remember that he worked tirelessly in arranging opportunities for his students to visit with the major employers in Texas. From him I learned rigor, logic and a dogged pursuit of excellence. I admired him greatly. I am bereft.
