Charles Paxton Stallings III born November 20, 1934 and died December 9, 2015. He was born in San Antonio and spent most of his life in San Antonio. He graduated in 1953 from Jefferson High School where he was an Eagle Scout and from University of Texas at Austin in 1957 with a degree in Economics. He received his MEd from Our Lady of the Lake University. He became a teacher and coach in San Antonio School District. Obtained his LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) and worked for Roy Maas Youth Alternatives until 2000, when he retired to Harper, Texas. He then volunteered with Awana and Pioneer Clubs and assisted second grade teachers at Harper Schools. He was a Gideon and member of the Kerrville Baptist Church, Harper Baptist Church and finally Wild Ride Ministries in Harper, Texas. He was a fearless and tireless worker for the Lord. In San Antonio he was a member of Castle Hills First Baptist Church. He spent time in the Army after graduating from college. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles P. Stallings Jr. and Essie Shockey Stallings, his grandparents Charles P. Stallings and Bertha Clark Stallings and Charles Shockey and Dolly Slusher Shockey, ex-wife Ann Robinette Stallings, and many golden retrievers, his favorite being "Buffy". He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Susan Lyons Stallings, daughters Mary Haven Merkle MD and husband Scott, Garland Stallings Roberson PhD, step son Tom Lyons and wife Morgan, grandchildren: John Merkle, Alexander Merkle, Joshua Roberson, Sam Lyons and Molly Roberson, mother in law Adela Lyons, brother Michael Stallings, ex-wife Dorothy Stallings, nieces: Julia Cortez (Joe) and Wanda Miller, his best friend since 6th grade Oliver Holden and his golden retriever Katie and his pitmation Amos.

Visitation will begin on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. with the funeral service to be held at 1:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park South.
