Christopher West Obituary

WEST
Christopher Montgomery West, born August 25, 1959, went on to his next adventure January 29, 2014. Chris was the man that men wanted to be and women wanted to be with. He enjoyed telling a good story just as much as he did listening to one. He loved good enchiladas, a cold drink, and living life on his own terms. He'd often ask if someone could teach him something about this game he'd heard of called "golf," and then go on to humiliate everyone, regardless of his propensity to shank a putt. He was a ruthless pot-stirrer and life as we know it will be much more boring with him not in it. During his days riding the rodeo, despite all the concussions Chris received (or because of them), he would always end up with the prettiest girl at the show, prompting his brother Randy to wonder if he should aspire to more concussions of his own to compete with Chris. Chris was a gentle soul with a Texas-sized heart who saw the good in everyone and never had a bad day. Although he went through some health struggles in the last few years, he never lost his sense of humor. He was always more interested in you than he was in himself, and if you were with Chris, you were guaranteed to have a good time. Chris leaves behind his children, Katie West Orem, Luke West, Tito West, and Johnny West, and his grandchildren, Charlie Orem, Harry B. Orem, and George Orem, as well as his mother, Mary Frances West, and his brothers and their wives, Bill and Scarlette West, Mitch and Elizabeth West, Jim and Martha West, and Randy and Linda West. Chris went to San Antonio Academy, Texas Military Institute, and the University of Texas, where he was a FIJI. A celebration of Chris's life will be at Alamo Heights United Methodist on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 1:30 pm. Please come expecting to laugh until you cry, rather than the other way around. Pallbearers: Karl Kinsel, Stan Shaw, Clay Conaly, Stan Kimble, Stuart Cavendar, Campbell Booth, Charles Hummel, Herb Bourquin and Dwight Chumbley. Honorary Pallbearers: Joey Foeste, Caesar Trevino, Matt Stackhouse, Abel Kennedy, Mike Keogh, Bill Kingman, Porter Loring and John Linskog. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to San Antonio Academy, Texas Military Institute, or the charity of your choice.

I attended San Antonio Academy with Chris.... Haven't seen him since graduation; however, reflecting on the days gone by now that he has passed.... The obituary is spot on in capturing/revealing the depth of his personality, kindness, generosity, character and loyal friendship. Chris was indeed legendary as a teenager and I'm happy to see that he truly lived an exciting, adventurous adult life. All the best to the family! Vaya con Dios Amigo Chris! John 14:1-4 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”

God bless you my friend. You will be missed.

Prayers and comfort to all the family. May each of you find peace.
