COLONEL JOHN E. ARMOUR Jr.

COLONEL ARMOUR Obituary

Colonel John E. Armour, Jr (USAF, retired) passed away at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Oregon on February 3, 2015.

John was born in Tacoma, WA on December 8, 1964 to Jack and Joanne Armour. He graduated from Washington State University where he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force. He treasured his lifelong friendships with his WSU Alpha Kappa Lambda brothers. John went on to receive Master's degrees from the University of Oklahoma and Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama. John served in the Air Force for 23 years and retired to Bend in 2012.

John found a rewarding second career working at Central Oregon Community College. John loved the outdoors especially hunting, fishing, skiing, hiking and paddling but was happiest spending time with his family.

John is survived by his wife Shelley Ransom and daughters Josie and Zoe Armour of Bend, mother Joanne Armour, sister and brother-in-law Kathy and Ed Schau and nephew Ben Schau, all of Tacoma; brother and sister-in-law Brad and Anjunette Armour, nephews and nieces Andrew Armour, Nicole Armour, Rebecca Ronzone and Rocco Ronzone of Gig Harbor, WA; parents-in-law Bob and Gayle Ransom of Pasco, WA, and brother-in-law John Ransom of Bend and numerous cousins, extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, John E. Armour Sr.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Northwest Public Radio, Washington State University Athletic Fund or the COCC Foundation general scholarship fund. John's family is exceedingly grateful for the great care he received from many especially the cardiac surgery team at the University of Texas San Antonio Medical Center, Dr. Nahel Farraj, St Charles'? chaplains and speech therapist Abigail Cary.

A celebration of John's life will be held at the Historic St. Francis Catholic Church in downtown Bend beginning at 10am on Monday, February 9, 2015.

Our sadness is overwhelming but we will always be inspired by your faith, perseverance and love of life. Hokahey, Colonel Armour.
