Daniel V. Obituary

Daniel Joseph Sullivan, V
December 21, 1957 - October 12, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel Joseph Sullivan, V, of San Antonio and Corpus Christi, Texas. Danny passed away peacefully at home on October 12, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. He left us much too soon, but he had a deep and profound faith and was at peace at the end. Danny lived a full life traveling the world by plane and the roads in his custom supercharged Corvette and Mercedes. He was a cowboy at heart but was just as comfortable sitting on the back porch in Spring Lake, New Jersey, skiing on the slopes in Colorado, water skiing with friends at Lake LBJ, scuba diving in the Caribbean, playing poker with his mother and her friends at the ranch on Thanksgiving, or just sunbathing by the pool in his own backyard to maintain his perfect year-round tan. Danny brought joy to everyone he knew and had a quiet wit that was contagious. He loved his family and friends without limits … and his flip phone and Marlboro Reds.
Danny was an accomplished businessman but one would never assume this from his humble nature. Among other ventures, he ran the Mariposa Ranch that has been in the family for over a century. He was at the forefront of implementing a shift towards a more complete wildlife management program and he hosted hunts for people from around the world.
Danny was predeceased by his grandparents, Ruth Eilene Butler and Dr. Vincent P. Butler, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Joseph Sullivan, III; parents, Ruth Eilene Butler Sullivan and Daniel Joseph Sullivan, IV; uncles, Dr. Vincent P. Butler, Jr. and J.D. Butler; and cousins, Judy and Bruce McLane and James Maxfield.
Danny is survived by his loving siblings Eilene Sullivan and Vincent Sullivan with whom he shared fond memories growing up together on Country Lane in San Antonio. He will be missed dearly by his aunt Patricia Butler and his many cousins, including Kathleen (Jim) Smith, Christina (Dave) Murphy, Karen (John) Colbert, Susan (Danijel) Farkas, Bruce (Paula) McLane, Colin (Colleen) McLane, Jason (Karen) McLane, Kevin (Anne) McLane and Marjorie McLane (Jim) Maxfield. He brought smiles and laughter to his nieces and nephews, Sarah, EJ, Jack, Patrick, Bridget, Charlie, Timmy, JD, Catherine, Will, Patrick, Connor and Ryan. The family wishes to thank Danny's amazing caregivers Nelson Incarnation and Misty Morales, his good friend Barbara Jimmerson who helped keep his business finances organized for so many years, the many loyal and loving members of the Mariposa Ranch family, and countless other family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life and reception will be held on Tuesday, October 22nd at 2pm at the Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Service - Yorktown, 5921 Yorktown Blvd, Corpus Christi, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Danny's honor to a charitable foundation in the Falfurrias area.

Not everyone at Alamo Heights was a someone. But, everyone who was a friend of Daniel Sullivan was lucky to have such a friend. My best memory of him, and one of my favorite memories of my life, was when we somehow managed to get tickets to see Led Zeppelin. We were 12, maybe 13. Of course, after seeing the show, we had somehow grown up! Later it was snorkeling, diving, sailfish and lots of great times. Puerto Aventuras, Cancun, it was fun in the sun, good times with good friends.
I will miss you Buddy. See you on that big sailboat in the sky.
My condolences to the family and all who knew Danny. You will be missed. Rest easy.

Danny was a great friend, schoolmate and neighbor. We grew up together on Country Lane. He was adventurous, fun and had the best sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew him.

So many of my favorite childhood memories involve my friend Danny Sullivan. Watching Project Terror and eating Oreos on Friday nights, listening and laughing to Cheeca and Chong, hunting on the Cage Ranch and skiing the back bowls in Vail. We had so much fun together. Danny was loved by everyone. I am so sorry to learn of his passing. Sending my thoughts and prayers to Eileen and Vincent.
