SEPTEMBER 1ST, 55 YEARS AGO GOD PLACED DAVID IN MY LIFE. SINCE THEN WE HAVE HUNTED, FISHED AND SHARED LIFE EXPERIENCES, GREAT AND OTHERWISE.
DAVID IS THE DEFINITION OF A BEST FRIEND- A SPECIAL PERSON IN YOUR LIFE, A PERSON WHO WOULD PUT THEMSELVES IN HARMS WAY, SO AS NOT TO SEE YOU IN PAIN. DAVID IS ALL THAT AND MUCH MORE. SEMPER FI MEANS “ALWAYS LOYAL”! IT IS THE MOTTO OF THE MARINE CORP. IN ALL THE YEARS OF OUR FRIENDSHIP DAVID WAS THE POSTER CHILD, WHEN MAYBE HE SHOULD NOT HAVE. FROM FLYING TO MEXICO CITY ,TO FIND SOMEONE, TO RECENT YEARS. MAKING SURE I DID NOT GO TO THE RANCH IN MEXICO ,ALONE!
THE RANCH WAS DAVID'S FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH. NO MATTER HOW SICK HE WAS, HE WAS GOING WITH ME TO THE RANCH. “YOU'RE NOT GOING ALONE!” HE WOULD SAY .HE WAS SO EXCITED TO HUNT THE OLD AND THE NEW RANCH WITH KEVIN THIS NEXT SEASON. HE WILL BE THERE WITH ME ALWAYS!
I THOUGHT I KNEW HIM, IN THESE LAST THREE YEARS, OF US ALONE AT THE RANCH, I LEARNED SO MUCH MORE ABOUT THE MAN. MY BEST FRIEND, AND WHAT HE WANTED OF ME. I OFTEN CALLED UPON HIM TO DO FAVORS FOR ME, HE NEVER FAILED ME. JUST RECENTLY, HE COMPLETED THE TASK BUT HE TOOK A LITTLE LONGER. I NOW KNOW WHY.
IN ALL THESE YEARS HE HAS ONLY ASKED OF ME “ONE FAVOR” I ASKED FOR GODS STRENGTH TO DO WHAT DAVID HAS ASKED OF ME TODAY AND ALL ELSE IN THE FUTURE
DAVID I WILL MISS YOU MORE THAN YOU KNOW. THANKS FOR WATCHING MY BACK FOR 55 YEARS! I KNOW YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A NEW RANCH FOR US TO HUNT UP THERE. SEMPER FI, YOU ARE THE BEST MARINE, THAT THE CORP. DID NOT HAVE.

Dearest Lita, Linda and Paul,
To all of you who are left behind, may you know that David no longer hurts, he is now at peace. May God guide and comfort you all! As one of his friends since 2nd grade, we had many great times with all of our friends! It was wonderful to be able to see him a few years ago when we celebrated St. Pius 50th Celebration at the Park! He is still in my heart and his spirit is now with God. You are all in my prayers and God's loving hands!

I met David at Texas Tech, where he and Bill Dufour were roommates. We all had a lot of fun together in Lubbock. He was very warm, outgoing, friendly and with an incredible sense of humor - he could sure give it, but he could take it, too. My deepest condolences to David's family and hope that the tremendous hole they must feel now is filled with a lot of wonderful memories.

David and I go way back. We partied at his father's ranch and hunted doves many times. A great guy and friend. He will be missed.

David introduced by brother Bill Dufour, to the real State of Texas - which had a tremendously positive effect on the entire Dufour family. Bill, my sister and I are Army brats that moved all over the place - Bill landed at MacArthur High School his senior year, where David befriended him. I believe we hunt, fish, and enjoy ranching because of David and his family's influence on Bill. I am forever grateful to David for this. Derry and I are grateful that we were able to return the favor by having him at the Derry Ranch several times. We treasure a set of fireplace tools David gave us from the ranch in Devine! I will miss him - he is a complicated guy, but we all love him dearly. I think he knew that. I hope so. Kimberly Dufour Gardner
