My uncle and my godfather was a man of strength, character, devotion to family and military service to the country. He advised and helped me to join the U.S. military based on his own experience and enabled me to become a field grade officer serving my country as he did. He supported others during difficult times, allowing me to live with his family when I was unsure of my future and ultimately commissioned into the army. He and his family exemplified the American dream and served their community. The emphasis of my memories are on my own past because uncle Dave helped to shape the lives of those around him to be the best they could be.
