Delfa Saldana Obituary

Delfa Cervantes nee Saldana
October 8, 2025
Delfa Cervantes nee Saldana passed away on October 8, 2025. Delfa attended Sidney Lanier High School and Draughn's Business College. She worked for an attorney and then the Veterans Administration. After the birth of her first child, she resigned from her job to raise her children. Delfa and Oscar Cervantes were married for 65 years and had five children.

Delfa's Christian faith guided her life and throughout it she always exemplified love and kindness. She loved and raised her children with unconditional love. She was a blessing and encouragement to anyone who knew her. Delfa was a lifelong member of St. Cecilia's Church where she and her husband sang in the choir. She led a weekly prayer group for 20 years.

Delfa and her husband began making annual summer trips to the north beach of Corpus Christi when their children were toddlers. Our family enjoyed being in the waters of the Gulf, fishing and looking for seashells. The tradition continued when we took our Dad and Mom to Port Aransas with three generations of families enjoying the coast together. Delfa's grandchildren are continuing the tradition with annual trips to Port Aransas.

Delfa was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Oscar Sr., and her brothers and sisters. Delfa was the last surviving child of the eight born to Daniel and Lucinda de Lozano Saldana, a proud Presbyterian family. Viva la Primera Iglesia Cristiana and the Inman Center which served families for generations. Delfa is survived by her children Mary Alice (Frederick) Hample, Oscar Jr., Stephen (Dawn), David, Eduardo, grandchildren Kristin (Robert) Sikora, Phillip (Kelly) Hample, Joy (Brandan) Presley, Hope (Taylor) Stakes, Jill, Claire (Brad) Tatum, five great grandsons and one great granddaughter.

We thank the community of St. Cecilia's Church for love and support and Mary Louise Garcia for communion visits to our mother. Our family thanks Crispina Gomez Castillo and Maria Nieto of Trinity Hospice for their constant compassionate care of our mother and their kindness and encouragement to her. We are grateful to Isabelle Sanchez and the nurses and staff at Morningside Manor in caring for our mother.

We are grateful to our mother for her example of being a godly woman, her incredible love and unforgettable memories she gave us. One memory is about our parent's kitchen table. From our childhood we sat at that table for everyday meals and celebrating special occasions. Laughter, love and joy were enjoyed in conversations among family, relatives, friends and neighbors.

Delfa's loving spirit and beautiful energy will live on in all who knew her.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

Yesterday

My deepest sympathies to Cervantes family. Delfa Cervantes was a kind, loving & God fearing soul who took the time to read her Bible every morning before starting her day. It was such a blessing meeting her. I know she is rejoicing in Gods presence now, completely healed & dancing in the sunshine! She will be missed.
