Diana "Diane" Carvajal
July 27, 2025
The recent passing of Diana "Diane" Carvajal, Burbank '68. Diane suffered "sudden death" due to a fall.
Diane started out at a very young age as a migrant worker throughout the Northwest picking cherries, tomatoes and other agriculture products and followed the work. Then in early '69 she ended up at the well known chrome plating shop at Kelly Field where we worked with every acid known to man. So we went to work with worst clothes we had and wore safety glasses from the time you walked in to the time you walked out. Definitely not a place to make a fashion statement.
One afternoon when I walked into an empty breakroom and sitting there reading a newspaper I looked up and two of the darkest beautiful brown eyes where fixed on me from across the room. Those two eyes belonged to a beautiful diamond, as they say, "in the rough." Little did I know that at that very moment my future was planned and laid out for me. I had no say in the matter. Within three months we were married on July 29, 1969.
From that time she blossomed into a young beautiful professional and amazing woman.
One of our early business venture was building Harley Davidson motorcycles (choppers) in our garage-shop. Looking at her you would never believe she was an MC builder because she always maintained the natural beauty she was born with.
Through our political and community business involvement and where people got to see her in action, they would always say she is amazing and a "saint."
At that time, due to the cost of health care, she was forced to take a job offer from the well known Oppenheimer etc. law firm. While there one of the attorneys wrote in a report that "not only did Diane know what she was doing, she also knew what I was doing." She was very efficient in her job and administrating our businesses.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents Francisco "Pancho" and Natividad "Nati" Vasquez, sister-in-law Martha Vasquez (Eddie Vasquez) her brother and brother-in-law Arnold Gonzalez (Ida Gonzalez) her sister. Her mother-in-law Carrie Carvajal-Sepulveda. Even thou she was not her mother they had a special mother-daughter relationship, they simply adored each other. Our daughter her Princess, Angel "D" Carvajal.
Diane leaves behind a countless list of friends and wonderful neighbors. With her special next door neighbors whom she had a special love for Max & Connie Martinez. Her sister and brother-in-law Carolyn and Charles (Chuck) Rubel (Danny's sister). Her granddaughter little Princess Carrie "Danielle", her handsome son and Prince, Daniel. Her husband and the person she treated as a King, Danny.
Diane, my silly rabbit I love you, miss you and can't imagen the rest of my life without you. So I'm sitting on the porch waiting for you to come and get me.
