Dion Peña Obituary
Dion Aaron Peña - Born May 18, 1979 went to be with the Lord on April 23, 2013 at the age of 33. Dion was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. He graduated from Robert E Lee High School in 1997 and passed his Real Estate test when he was 18 years old. He worked with his father at his company, Kingsland Properties. Dion went on to other sales positions and was currently employed by United-Bilt Homes as the manager of their Austin office. Dion was a hard worker and his first year at the Austin office was a record year. Dion loved and respected the people he worked with at United-Bilt Homes and was loved and respected in return. Dion was married for the last 10 years to his high school sweetheart, Crystal Cruz Peña. They were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Vivian Nicole Peña, on August 9, 2011. His beloved wife and beautiful daughter were the joy of his life. Dion was a wonderful and loyal husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He had a great sense of humor and was always a joy to be around. He loved music and played drums in the marching band at Lee. He was also self-taught on the piano and played keyboard in a band since high school with his buddy, Kenneth Garza. Dion was an avid and loyal Boston Red Sox fan. He loved to play baseball, basketball and golf. He loved the Lord and enjoyed meeting for breakfast bible studies with friends before work. Dion is also survived by his parents, Henry and Brenda Peña, brother Derek Peña, sister and brother-in-law, Erik and Amanda Garcia, nephews, Malachi and Jeremiah Garcia, father-in-law Gordon Mitchell and wife, Melinda, mother-in-law, Melanie Chadwell Mitchell, brother-in-law Travis Mitchell, sister-in-law Ashley Mitchell, his grandmother Dolores Seale, grandfather Enrique H Peña, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and so many very wonderful friends. He will be greatly missed by all.
A service to celebrate Dion's life will be held at Church of Acts, 9965 Kriewald Rd., San Antonio, TX at 11am Saturday, April 27, 2013. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to Vivian Peña's trust fund at http://www.youcaring.com/other/contributions-for-vivian-nicole. Dion, you were always the salesman, I use to love taking you with me when I had to sale cady or something for some kind of fundraiser for school. I would have you go to the door and knock and I would have them sold in no time! It is hard to wrap my head around the idea that your gone, but don't worry Your Mom, Dad, Derek, Amanda, Crystal and precious Vivian will be taken care of here. My name is Theresa Lents I am a blessed friend of Joyce Seale. I did not know Dion but I knew him from the gracious loving words Joyce would tell me. I am so sorry for the families loss. I was diagnosed 2 years ago with Diabetes and continue my life with an insulin pump. What I have discovered about Diabetes is it is very real and can be devastating. I will continue teaching others in loving memory of Dion about taking care of your health and diabetes. Take one day at a time and surround your life with the great love you have in this family. Dion Pena was and is a wonderful, loving man. He walked with The Lord while he was on this earth and is currently walking with The Lord where he is now. What amazing grace. We will see Dion again. I had the pleasure to meet Dion in my home when he was working on my daughter's house. We sat at my table, and he sketched out different foundations with me, since I was a former inspector. Dear Pena Family,
I had the pleasure of meeting Dion through work. He arived at my office cheerful, happy, smiling,& with such an upbeat spunk. I will say that everytime he came he always had a smile on his face. He will not be forgotten. My heart goes out to the family. I am deeply sorry for your loss. Crystal, I am focusing on how funny Dion was and just hearing you laugh when he would tell a story. When you and Dion came up to Dallas a couple years ago, it was so much fun.
We will never understand why this had to happen, but just know that your Dallas family loves you and Vivian and you're constantly in our prayers. Big hugs!

I remember the first time I saw Dion, he was all legs and arms! Henry and Brenda were so proud of him. I have many memories of him growing up with our sons Robbie, Mac and David. My heart aches as I write this. I was so impressed with his musical abilities and he was such a jokster, especially with Brenda. He was always happy and had the friendliest smile. He has made a big impact on my family and I will always have a special place for him in my heart. He lives on through his daughter and through his generousity and all the people that love him.
