Doris Hoffman Obituary
Doris passed away at the age of 99 in her home in North Shearer Hills. A Pennsylvania native, she always prided herself in her "Pennsylvania Dutch" ancestry and relation to James Lick, who was born in the same town in 1796 and who by the time of his own death had become the wealthiest man in California. The Hoffmans moved to San Antonio in 1960 where husband Carl began working at Kelly Air Force Base. Doris was proud of her years of volunteer work with the Blue Birds at Methodist Hospital and as a member of Laurel Heights United Methodist Church, with whose Super Adults group she and Carl enjoyed a number of trips to foreign lands. Carl died on Thanksgiving 1986 and Doris is survived by her daughter Heidi Hoffman Burgess, her son Carleton Hoffman, grandchildren Lance Burgess, Heather Perry and Keri Hoffman and great-grandchildren Payton Perry, Jackson Perry, Kendall Burgess, Brooks Burgess, Hannah Hoffman and Hayden Hoffman. A visitation will be on Sunday, March 25 at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Followed by burial at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road. Doris had an extreme love for "puppy dogs and pussycats" and hoped that any gifts in her memory would be made to organizations that care for animals.
