Dorothy Davis Obituary

DAVIS
Dorothy D. Davis returned to be with her Lord on February 24th, 2009. She was born in Dilley, Texas on March 9, 1918 to Roy and Dessie Rowland. She moved with her family to San Antonio and graduated from Main Avenue High School and Draughon's Business College. Dorothy married her only love Charley C. Davis, Jr. in 1940. They celebrated 58 years of marriage. Through the years she worked in the business offices of Wolf and Marx, Byrd Shankle Grocery and the Perry Shankle Wholesale Distributors Co. She lived in the San Antonio area until moving to Brownwood, TX to be near her son and daughter-in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Roy Alec Rowland. She is survived by two brothers, Bobby Rowland and wife, Ruby of Corpus Christi, TX and Lester Rowland and wife, Estelle of Bethesda, Maryland; son, Charley C. Davis III and wife, Linda of Mercury, TX; 5 granddaughters and their husbands, Deanna and Clinton Creech, Karen Davis, Tami and Scott Fenner, Lara and Mack Melancon, Julie and Joe Akers and 9 great grandchildren. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Queen of Peace Catholic Church on February 27, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in Brownwood, TX under the direction of Davis Morris Funeral Home. Visitation will follow at Mission Park Funeral Home North in San Antonio Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Interment will be Saturday, February 28, 2009 in San Fernando Cemetery # III at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer's Research Foundation 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, Illinois 60601-7633or Solaris Hospice 2250 S. FM 51 Suite 400 Decatur, TX 76234.
