Edward James "Jim" Lake, age 84, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. Born on January 18, 1941, in San Antonio, Jim was a devoted family man, a proud veteran, and a cherished friend to many.
Jim faithfully served in the Texas National Guard from 1962 to 1967 and later spent his entire professional life as a dedicated truck driver with Roadway, where he was admired for his work ethic and loyalty.
Jim was the kind of man who brought light into every room. Hardworking, funny, and kindhearted, he never met a stranger. His outgoing personality and love of people made him unforgettable to all who crossed his path. He had a deep passion for motorcycles, sports cars, and good cooking, and he shared those joys freely with those around him.
More than anything, Jim was an encourager. He believed in people-truly believed in them-and if you ever told him, you couldn't do something, he'd look you straight in the eye and say, "YOU CAN DO IT!" That phrase became his legacy, a rallying cry for hope and perseverance passed down to his family and friends.
Jim is lovingly remembered by his wife of many years, Trini Maria Lake; his son, Michael Lake, and wife Lea Ann, along with their two sons, Lucas and Landon; and his daughter, Deborah L. Roberts, and her daughter Heather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emily M. Granato Ward and Roy Lake.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Porter Loring Mortuary, with a rosary to begin at 6:00 p.m.
A funeral service will take place on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at Porter Loring Mortuary with an interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Road, San Antonio, Texas.
Jim Lake's memory will live on through the many lives he touched with his optimism, warmth, and unwavering belief in others.
