Emma Reyes Obituary
Emma Valadez Reyes, 94, devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away April 17, 2016. Emma was born in Stockdale, Texas. In 1944, she met and married Robert C. Reyes, Sr. Together they raised 10 children. Her love for the Lord, above all else, and her dedication to her family was clear to everyone. Emma, along with her husband, owned numerous businesses, notably Reyes Super Market, La Kasita Club, La Kasita Restaurant, and Guadalupe Theater, which is now the Cultural Art Center. They created, produced, and starred in the nation's first Hispanic variety show for CBS in the 1950's. She became one of San Antonio's early Hispanic business pioneers before that title existed. Emma was preceded in death by her loving husband of thirty-three years, Robert. She is survived by her children, Yolanda Georges, Hector Reyes, Josie Fraga, Rudy Reyes, Margarita Leal, Robert Reyes, Jr., Tony Reyes, Beatrice Reyes, Richard Reyes, and Diana Jaques; 31 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation: Thursday, April 21, 6 to 9pm, at Leon Valley Baptist Church with services on April 22, 11am, at Leon Valley Baptist Church. Emma will be buried at Sunset Memorial Park.

I remember Emma fondly as we sat together for a few years when we were both attending Landmark Baptist Church on Broadway. She was a sweet lady and I loved her as a Christian sister. My sympathy to the family. Dorothy Williams

Most humble, great and awesome servant of the Lord. The room would always be filled with a good spirit and filled with the love of God when Mrs Reyes would walk in. The presence of the the Lord was always with her and in her heart. She always treated everyone with the love of God and invited everyone into her home. She always treated me with great respect, love and kindness and I will miss her dearly. She was such a good grandmother to my children and they always remember all the good memories and Jims. Their grandma was the best, she was a good mother in law and an awesome disciple of the word of God. If anyone every has a chance to look in her bible and see all the devotion she took in the word it will be worth your time. I think she would love to share the word of God with anyone even now that she has gone to be with our Lord and Savior - We will miss you always
