On Thursday, August 3, 2017, our Father saw the face of God in Heaven after an honorable life of service to God, Family and Country. Enrique Guerrero was born July 15, 1916 in San Marcos, Texas. One of 6 children, he leaves behind the love of his life for 75 years, Elena Diaz Guerrero; 5 children, Haidy Busekrus and husband, Jack, Evangelina Flores and life partner, David Reta, Sylvia DeHoyos, David DeHoyos, Enrique Guerrero, Jr. and wife, Carmella and Zandra McCool and husband, Rich; 10 grandchildren, Luis-John Buskerus and wife, Shelby, Marcus-John Busekrus and wife, Michelle, Roger O. Flores, Mariela F. Lopez and husband, Orlando, David DeHoyos and wife, Melinda, Haidi DeHoyos, Christopher DeHoyos, Enrique Guerrero, III and wife, Samantha, Diego Garcia and Abrianna Guerrero; 8 great grandchildren, Roger, Marcos, Alessandra and Isabel Flores and Anthony, Maximiliano, Alejandro and Paloma Lopez; sister, Virginia Martinez; and brothers, Tomas Guerrero and wife, Josie and Antonio Guerrero. He was preceded in death by his brother, Juan Guerrero and his son-in-law, Roger A. Flores. He leaves a legacy of strong faith, unconditional love of family, hard work and an infectious joy for life. Born the son of a Blacksmith, he answered the call to defend his country as a tank commander with the 1st armored division during WWII with service in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. He received the Purple Heart, the American Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the EAME Campaign with 6 Bronze Stars. His service in the Army began in February 1941 through July 4, 1945 at the end of the war.
Upon his return to civilian life, he moved his family from Laredo to San Antonio, Texas where he spent his career working as an Aircraft Mechanic at Kelly AFB. He was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, the American Legion, the VFW and the Disabled American Veterans. One of his greatest accomplishments was putting his children through Catholic school education and seeing their subsequent successes as college graduates. After retirement from Civil Service, his favorite times were spent tinkering with mechanics, listening to country music, but most especially spending time with his wife, his children and his grandchildren. On his 100th Birthday, he was asked how he felt about reaching 100. He said he thought he had had a great life for which he was thankful to God, but that the best part was that he had been able to share it with the beautiful woman next to him, his wife, Elena. We will always cherish, recall and feel his loving hand and the memory of his example.

SERVICES
Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. followed by a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Drive. The Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou Drive. The Graveside Service with Military Honors will be at 9:15 A.M. on Friday, August 11, 2017 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in his memory be made to the Disabled American Veterans or the Wounded Warrior Project.
