Evan Braeuler Obituary

September 27, 1994 - February 4, 2016
Evan's energy, smile and kindness will always be present, though he now lives on the other side of life in the very heart of God. Evan was born in Brandon, Florida on September 27, 1994 and passed away at home in San Antonio on February 4, 2016. He was the kind of person people couldn't forget - he touched many with his friendliness and joy. Perhaps it was this very energy that swirled too strongly in his mind and spirit for this life. Only he and the Lord know that.

For now we deeply recall how he touched us all. Evan was very social, making lifetime friends with kids, teachers, and families. Circles of relationships have remained through Evan's school life and activities at Colonial Hills United Methodist School, Hunters Creek neighborhood, St. Matthew's Church and School, St. Francis of Assisi Church, Oak Meadow Elementary, Jackson Middle School, Churchill High School, TAMU CC and Panera Bread. Diving and cheer, as well as art and music were passions that exemplified his energy and zeal.
Evan belonged to us all - as we all deeply miss this unique young man. Evan leaves parents Peter and Karen and brother Jason; grandparents Rudy and Marge Massari; aunts and uncles Sigrid Brown, Greg Massari and his wife Mollie, Jon Massari; cousins Jessica and Kurt Brown, Philip, Margaret, Annie and Lizzie Massari, Kaylee and Emily Johnson and Matthew Massari; as well as family on both sides of life. One of Evan's great joys was the recent connection and relationship with his birthfather Ben Astrike of Charlotte, NC and his children and family, as well as conversation and sharing with birthmother Jennifer Silcox. Evan embraced his adoption and was loved by a double-decker family.

Two services will honor Evan's life at St. Francis of Assisi Church at 4201 DeZavala, San Antonio, Texas 78249: Vigil on Thursday, February 11 at 7:00 p.m. and Mass of Resurrection on Friday, February 12 at 9:30 a.m. The family welcomes friends at the church for the hour prior to each service. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery after mass.

Part of me can´t believe it´s been nearly a decade you´ve been gone. Even though we were friends for years, it´ll never have been enough. I´ll never forget our day trips. I´m so glad we took pictures. I miss you. I hope your next adventure is even more fun than the one you shared with us here.

Although I did not know you very well, and I had only been with you for short periods, it meant and still means everything to me, the fact that I got to meet my brother is awesome. I wish I knew you more, but what I do know is you were very loved, and I find myself seeing you in my passions. Rest in peace brother.

I went to elementary school with Evan and he was always the nicest guy. It's a shame for him to be gone so soon. I wish I would have known about the services sooner. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Rest In Peace my friend.

We met and hung out together once through Lindsay. You had a great soul and I'm glad that I can say you were my friend. We never really talked much after we hung out, but we were friends on almost every platform of social media. You will be greatly missed. Rest in peace Evan.

Evan, even though ,I did not know you ,I knew your biological dad ,Benjamin, since he was a little boy! Also his parents, your grandparents for 30 plus years! Before I knew who you were .......if ,per-chance we had passed on the street,I would have told you,,hey you look just like a young man I know!!!! Absolutely,I believe, you would have given me a big smile ,and probably thought, crazy lady !!!Allthough,my heart breaks for your family I know ........it also breaks for the family you knew that raised and loved you. I know how selfless an act would be to hand your baby over to parents that can afford them a better life!!! I really, wish, more young people could be that loving and mature to see this as a option and give all Gods gifts ,most precious gifts ,a chance for a better life. Evan, you were and are loved and will be missed terribly.

Evan was one of the first friends I made in college, he made camp fun and almost completely stress free. He never once said something without meaning or a purpose. Every moment we shared, heart felt or a day to day event, will stay with me for as long as I'm here on this earth. You touched so many in the amount of time you where here, you always made an impression. I love you hun, I can't wait to see you again.

I don't think I'll ever forget the nicknames we had for eachother, or how delcastillo would always catch us talking about the most awkward things in class. I'll miss our "epic hugs" and constant jokes. I'll miss your laughter and excitement. RIP sweet boy.

While Evan was a Boy Scout with Troop 271 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, I knew from the start that he took the twelve point of the Scout Law to heart in his actions with friends, family, at school. Though I did not see much of him until recently at Panera - he was well liked. My sympathy and prayers go out to his parents and brother.
