Frances Pimentel Obituary

Frances Pimentel
January 26, 1952 - July 23, 2024
Frances Catherine Pimentel, 72, of San Antonio, Texas a first generation American passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 23, 2024. She was the youngest of 21 children born on January 26, 1952, in Worland, Wyoming to Antonio Cuara and Apolonia Domingez Cuellar Pimentel.
Frances was a proud mother to Miranda Michelle Poff (Brent) and Mia Catherine Long (Evan) and even prouder grandmother to 4 grandchildren – Philip Scott, Michael Allen, Anthony Paul, and Clara Evangeline Poff. She was a beloved sister, aunt, cousin, bonus mom/grandmother, and friend to so many who fondly knew her as Panche, Cricket, Franny, or Cathy. She had more hats and shoes than nicknames and enjoyed her many adventures as she traveled extensively to all corners of the world!
She was a devoted civil servant with the U.S. General Services Administration in Kansas City, Missouri then with the 2nd Space Command at Buckley AFB in Aurora, Colorado. Later working for the Army Corps of Engineers in Little Rock, Arkansas then as an Administrative Assistant at Harding University to 2 deans of the College of Business. Her proudest accomplishment during this time was her beloved farm and orchard in Mt. Vernon, Arkansas. Cathy's Orchard was a local favorite for years boasting the best peaches around! In early 2006, she deployed with the Corps of Engineers to Iraq to serve in Mosul and Tikrit. She made her way back to Kansas City with the Corp where she would earn her retirement.
Over Frances' life she would evolve and grow but never lost her childlike wonder and faith. Every song was her favorite; she is in the music still. She's in the beautiful ornament on the Christmas tree, or the cascarones confetti flying in the air. She's the reminder that daylight's a wastin' and the warmth of the sunshine on your face. She's the seashell you find washed upon the shore. The new pair of shoes that fit just right. She is the peace and knowledge that we have knowing she's home.
'Remember me, don't let it make you cry. For even if I'm far away I hold you in my heart…until you're in my arms again…remember me.'
There will be no public services. Private arrangements to celebrate her life with family and friends are forthcoming.
Frances loved volunteering and seeing her grandsons thrive as they participated in their local Boy Scout Troops. Memorials in her honor can be made directly to 'BSA Troop 93' and mailed to 7734 Robert Mondavi, San Antonio TX, 78253.

Although I only knew Frances briefly through church, she was so lively and energetic despite her illness. She was extremely generous and helpful with my charity yard sale. She became an instant friend, calling me and texting me often to talk about all her interests and adventures. What an amazing life she had! I was so blessed know her for the short time that I did. May God give you comfort and peace through your grieving and loss.

Mia, Miranda, and family, we share your sadness in try he loss of your mother. Cathy was younger looking than her years!

I admire the care you provided during her last months as those decisions are hard and care emotionally and physically draining at times. I believe your mother knew how much her daughters loved her.

I clearly remember the peaches grown in her orchard! May you all be surrounded by sweet aromas of friends and family and the strength that only God provides as you grieve this loss.

Love you, Mia!

Franny was a regular customer at the resale shop in Pipe Creek where I work. I knew immediately upon meeting her that she was a special lady. We became friends and the more I learned about her life the more I admired her. I loved her like family. I'll forever be grateful for her presence in my life even though it was only a few years. I miss you Franny but my heart is happy that you're finally at peace and no longer in pain. I know your singing karaoke in heaven!
