Gary Wolfe Obituary

Gary Mitchell Wolfe
December 23, 1963 - May 27, 2025
Gary Mitchell Wolfe, 61 years of age, left this world to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. Gary and his beloved wife Tess had embarked on a cruise to Alaska. Gary became ill and was medi-flighted to Seattle. He was being treated for pneumonia and heart issues and perished during a procedure for his heart. Gary leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Tess, his son Matthew Wolfe, Matt's girlfriend Rachel Sterchi, his daughter Tiffany (Wolfe) Crockett, son-in-law Gavin, and his beautiful grand-daughter, Noah Grace.
Gary was born December 23, 1963, to Elmer C. Wolfe, Jr. and Dena C. Wolfe. He was their third child and brother to Mari (Wolfe) Robinson (brother-in-law Gary) and Elmer C. (Buddy) Wolfe III (sister-in-law Lilibeth). Gary grew up on a small farm in Manteca, CA. He attended French Camp Elementary School and was a 4H member. He attended East Union High School where he was an Honor Student and an All League offensive tackle on the football team. In addition he was a trumpet player in the marching and jazz band. Upon graduation he attended the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Upon graduating the academy he went on to flight training becoming a C130 cargo pilot. The Air Force stationed him in the Philippines where he met and married the love of his life, Teresa (Tess) Reyes. Additionally Gary was stationed in Illinois, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, Spain and finally settling back in San Antonio,Texas, to raise his family and eventually retire. Gary retired from the Air Force as a Lt. Colonel in 2011 and began working for the Department of the Air Force helping develop flight training programs.
While Gary served the military with pride, there was so much more to him. First and foremost was his love and devotion to his family. Tess was the center of his heart. He spoke with loving pride of her and his children and granddaughter. He had the softest heart for not only his pets but all animals including the local deer that would wait for him to return home from work awaiting their treat of apples and corn.
In addition to his immediate family Gary leaves behind his nephews and nieces: Kenny Noack, his wife Toni and their sons Jack, Henry and Austin; Brett Noack, his wife Jessika and son Cruz; Bruce Wolfe, his wife Jennifer and their daughter Abbigail; and Brianna Wolfe and her fiancé Garrett Cooper, along with many cousins.
Gary was a man of integrity and humility, calm and kind. He always opted to do the right thing and treated everyone with respect. As a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend, you will not find any better. He held a strong reverence for our Almighty God and we take comfort knowing that he rests with Him. May his memory be eternal.
Viewing will be Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 5-7 PM, at Schertz Funeral Home in Schertz, TX. Funeral service will be held Monday, June 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Schertz Funeral Home. Burial will be at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio.
