I have known and served under many fine men in my life, but none have matched the pinnacle of service to man and country as that of Glenn Hoffman. He was a demanding taskmaster but gentle in his push toward excellence. He was a friend beyond mere words. His love for his God, his Countrty and his family stretched beyond the horizon. Glenn was an example of what man should be and can achieve. Surely, he made this a better world for all of us and he will be greatly missed. Just as surely, he will walk and grace the halls of Heaven and find a place in the hierarchy of God's army.

I was assigned to the 240th AHC as a personnel specialist at its' inception at Gray Army Airfield connected with Fort Hood. We flew over as a unit. Shortly after arriving I became the company clerk working under First Sgt Perez. Major Hoffman's office was a few steps away. He was the Executive Officer and when not flying, I interacted with him on a regular basis dealing with clerical/administrative duties. He was wonderful man. I felt very fortunate to have spoken with him by phone about a year or so ago. I addressed him as Sir and he said, just call me glenn. :-) He was respectful, caring, humble and had a warm smile. It was an honor to have served under his command. My deepest condolences to his family.

I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the entire Hoffman family for the loss of Glenn. As a new neighbor a few years back, "Mr. Hoffman" was the first to welcome us into the neighborhood, and he always greeted us with a big smile and wave thereafter. I will always cherish our driveway conversations learning of each others families, and our shared love for the University of Texas Longhorns. We was a great man and will be deeply missed by all those that knew him.

I first met Major Glenn Hoffman in Texas in 1966 when the 240th was first forming. After interviewing with him, he gave me my choice of jobs with the 240th. I chose the gun platoon. Through the next year of working and flying with him, I never met a finer commander or gentleman. I enjoyed flying with him in Vietnam, he was an excellent pilot and leader. He called on me a number of times in Vietnam, even on missions to come down out of the sky and work on helicopters for him. The day I left Vietnam to come home he offered me my choice of Warrant Officers Flight School or OCS and Flight School. At that time, I could not choose either. Following Vietnam, we remained friends through Christmas cards, letters, and phone calls, and I enjoyed being with him at some of the 240th reunions. I recall him sending me a copy of the Greyhound Bus Company´s magazine that had an article he had written about the 240th and where he had included a picture of me and a co-mechanic working on a Greyhound helicopter. I was thrilled to get that copy.
I have lost a good and wonderful, memorable friend. Hopefully some day we will meet again.

Mr. Hoffman, I knew you when I was in high school and your daughter Glenda was one of my closest friends. Your family had such an impact on me and to this day if somebody was to ask me about who mentor me when I was a teenager I would say it would be you and your wife, Also, your children, Annette, David, and Glenda.
You help me learn the importance of serving the Lord and being a good disciple for Jesus.

Glenn was my roommate at Victoria Jr. College the first friend I made when attending there and lasting friend that I loved and respected like none other. I remember loaning him my car that my father instructed me to let no one drive, but he needed to go to Cuero to make up with Lillian after a spat. He never forgot that favor. I will miss him dearly. God bless him.

Lieutenant-Colonel Hoffman was my commanding officer (Major Hoffman then) when I deployed to Vietnam in 1967. I was assigned to the 240th Assault Helicopter Company which he commanded. I always kept wonderful memories of such a fine officer. Proud to have served under his command. Rest in peace and I salute you sir.

I was saddened to hear of Glenn's passing. I was 9 years old when I was first introduced to the Hoffman family. My brother David married Helen Ruth and I remember that time vividly and what a wonderful family they all were.
Glenn was always a delight to be around, always very friendly and would do anything for you. There are so many wonderful memories visiting the Hoffman's when I was in San Antonio.
The Baxter family always had high regards for Glenn and all of the Hoffman's. He will be sadly missed.
Sending condolences and prayers to Lillian and all of the family. May God comfort you in the days and weeks ahead.
