Gregory Gordon Obituary

Gregory Elrod Gordon
November 17, 1981 - January 11, 2024
On January 11, 2024, Gregory Elrod Gordon, 42, passed away in his home in San Antonio. Greg leaves a legacy of love for his faith, family, and friends, and will forever be an inspiration to all who knew him.
Although Greg was taken from us too soon, his never-failing spirit will always be alive. Greg was a leader on and off the field. He led by example and with virtues he learned at home, in church, and in the Alamo Heights community. His family, teammates, and friends all knew that Greg had their backs and always put others first.
Greg excelled in both academics and athletics and was in the Gifted & Talented program at an early age. He earned his Eagle Scout award and participated in numerous student, civic and social organizations.
He graduated from Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio, Texas in 2000. He was always the shining light and a true leader. Greg was asked to interview with Harvard University and Yale University for football, but, elected to go to the University of Texas at Austin where he majored in accounting and was a member of Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji) fraternity where he was Santa Claus at the Christmas formal, and was Social Chairman with good friend and pledge brother, Tom Bagby. Summers were filled with studies abroad advancing his Spanish in Spain & Costa Rica while building a budding relationship with future wife, Amanda. Greg attended Camp Longhorn (Ranch) for 10 years and was a camp counselor for 4 years.
Greg is survived by a large number of family and friends. He is the son of Patricia Elrod Gordon and William Wade Gordon M.D., brother Jeffrey William Gordon, and sister Lauren Anne Gordon. He leaves behind his wife Amanda Day Gordon, and his two daughters Annabelle Jane Gordon and Olivia Day Gordon, aunt Kris Elrod Berry, uncle Mike Berry, cousin Ryan Berry, aunt Joyce Turner Elrod, cousin Bonnie Elrod Starr, cousin Scott Harrison Elrod, mother-in-law Pam Day, brother-in-law Jason Day, brother-in-law Michael Day. He is preceded in death by grandparents Anne and Horace Elrod, grandfather Elton Gordon, step grandfather Owen and grandmother Marilyn Whisler Mott, uncle John Elrod, cousin Johnathan Berry, father-in-law Brooke Day.

Whenever I think of Greg I pull out an old memory, a funny one. For a year Lauren and my son Bingo carpooled to nursery school . They sat on opposite ends of the back seat and never spoke a word to each other. Three years later, we did the same with Greg and Leita. They sat in the middle of the backseat and never shut-up.(this was before car seats for their age) Pull out the happy and funny memories. You have storehouse full of them!

Praying for the entire Gordon Family. Much Love, kathleen whitten
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)

I knew Greg from Highschool, and Camp Longhorn. Top-notch, an all around good guy. The world is a lesser place without him.
May he rest in peace.
