Hal Baylor

Hal Templeton Baylor, age 93 and life-long resident of San Antonio, was born in Baylor, Montana, and died July 6, 2009. He was buried with a small family service Wednesday, July 9. Dulcie Boatwright Baylor, his wife of 68 years, died in 2004. They were married at the DerbyShow, where they reigned as "The Sweetheart Couple". He is survived by his 3 children: Sandra B. Wright, Sharon Dresch and Hal James Baylor; grandchildren Buddy Wright, Keith Wright, Suzi Wellborn, David Dresch, and Timothy Baylor; great-grandchildren Meghan Rabuse, Victoria Ervin, Cliff Wright, Cody Wellborn, Katie Wellborn and Nicholas Dresch; and his great-great-grandson, Thomas Ervin. For many years, Hal was a contractor, specializing in the building and design of food processing and cold storage plants throughout Central and South Texas. Hal was a tireless worker and worked full-time into his late 80's. A life-long hunter and fisherman, he was a gregarious person well loved by his family, friends and associates. Hal's focus in his final years was researching and writing the history of the Baylor family. Hal was a descendent of early Texas Pioneers including a defender of the Alamo, Texas Rangers, Texas sheriffs, lawyers, Confederate Officers, and the founder of Baylor University. His entertaining tales of his adventures spanning the past century will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Texas Ranger Museum in Waco, TX, The Nimitz Museum in Fredericksburg, TX, or the Assistance League of San Antonio.
