Henrietta Gamez Fernandez

1933 - 2022

Henrietta (Henri) Gamez Fernandez, age 89, was at her home when she was called to our Lord on April 5th, 2022.

Born February 3rd, 1933, she is preceded in glory by her mother Agustina Flores Gamez, father Juan Soto Gamez and brother Roberto Flores Gamez.

She is survived by her husband and childhood sweetheart, Edward "Eddie" Fernandez, sons John Edward (Lupita), George Luis (Sandra), sister Lila Gamez Aguirre (Ben), and grandsons Joel (Edith), Jacob, Edward and John Richard.

Mom grew up in San Antonio, TX. She graduated from Burbank High Scholl in 1951 and was determined to seek higher education, earning a Master's degree in bi-lingual education from Our Lady of the Lake University. Mom became a teacher, a calling she loved as much as doting on her grandsons, primarily teaching at Highland Park Elementary School. She ran her own cake decorating business. She was active in her church.

She loved children, and was known by many children at church as "Grandma Nandez." She played the piano, and loved to sing and dance. She is dearly missed.

A memorial service will be held on 14 May 2022, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2302 S. Presa at 10:00 AM, with fellowship afterward.

In leu of flowers, contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital are encouraged.
