Henry Charles McCann, Jr., age 97 of San Antonio, Texas, passed quietly with his wife and son by his side on Monday, February 20, 2023. He was born October 26, 1925 in San Antonio to Henry Charles McCann, Sr. and Pauline (Jaloway) McCann, both of whom preceded him in death.
During WWII, Henry served in the United States Marine Corps, stationed in China and the Philippines. After the war, he attended Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, eventually joining the McKesson Corporation until his retirement in 1985. Henry was an active member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Harp and Shamrock Society and Irish Culture Society. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling the country, but will most be remembered for his love of playing Skip-Bo with family and friends.
Mr. McCann is survived by his wife of 68 years, Merita McCann; his children, Chuck McCann, III and wife, Petra, Michael McCann, Kevin McCann and wife, Cathy, Shawn McCann, Thomas McCann and wife, Teri, Brian McCann and wife, Michele, Jean Jones and husband, Geno; 14 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
On 3/1/2023 Rosary will begin at 10:00 A.M. followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. at St. Gregory, 700 Dewhurst. On 3/2/23 the Graveside Service with Military Honors will begin at 9:30 A.M. at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road.
