Henry Munk Obituary

September 15, 1935 - September 7, 2014
Henry Elton Munk, age 78, peacefully passed away in Sunday, September 7, 2014. Born in Somerset, Texas, on September 15, 1935, Henry was the only son of Henry Joseph and Mary Witter Munk. He attended Schreiner University and graduated from Texas A&I University with a degree in Agricultural Education. Henry married Anne Poteet on August 25, 1959. Gifted with a deep and sincere love of the land and all God's creatures, Henry devoted himself to educating children for over 30 years in the Carrizo Springs and Pearsall School Districts. Henry was honorably discharged from the United States Army, was a member of the Pearsall Jaycees and was State Director of the Texas Jaycees. He was a member of the Frio Lodge #399 AF& AM, San Antonio Scottish Rite Bodies, and Alzafar Shrine Temple in San Antonio, and the American Legion Post #410.

Henry celebrated life every day through the music of the Almost Patsy Cline band, cooking, frequent trips to Concan with friends, Buck, Barbara, Shelia, Bump and his wife Anne and tending "the plants." He gave much of himself and was dedicated to the Karios Prison Ministries at the Torres Prison, Hondo, Texas.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Agnes Ann Munk. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Anne Poteet Munk, his daughter, Missy Stautzenberger (Todd), his son, Cameron Munk (Marion), and his beloved grand-daughter, Lauren Hannah Stautzenberger who was the light of "Poppy's" life. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at the Bandera United Methodist Church, 406 11th Street, Bandera, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that gifts be given to the Kairos Prison Ministry, Robert Robertson, State Treasurer, 508 S. Texas, Shamrock, Texas 79079, designate Torres Unit, Please.

Good memories....I'm so glad you and Henry came to the Poteet Reunions so many times. Thankfully, we got to know both of you and we got to eat the delicious meat he cooked for us. Good memories are the 'afterglow' of a life well lived.
