HENRY VIDAL Obituary

Henry Zamarron Vidal, age 72, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; peacefully died May 6, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on September 26, 1949, in San Antonio. He is preceded in death by his parents, Enrique and Antonia Vidal, brothers Luis and Gilberto Vidal, father-in-law Juan P. Sanchez and numerous family members.

He was a 1968 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society and manager for the Rockets Varsity Baseball Team. He received his BA in Accounting from St. Mary's University in 1973. He worked for Benco Sales and non-profit organizations including Parent Child Incorporated where he retired from in 2010. His attention to detail and perfectionism was infectious. Like his precision with numbers, Henry acted in the same manner with every other aspect of his life; whether it was working on a home project, fixing the car, cutting the lawn, or even reading his DIY Handyman issues. He was a perfectionist.

His family was truly inspired by his way of life; always willing to lend a helping hand. Henry was a quiet, reserved, humble and devoted servant of Jesus Christ. He was at peace when he was serving his beloved St. John Berchmans Church where he's been a parishioner for over 65 years. He was a Knight of Columbus, Council #7697, an Honorary Guadalupano, an active volunteer during church festivals, cooking for fundraisers, maintenance of CYO fields, cleaning and decorating the church.

Henry married his friend, Janie Sanchez in 1973, and were blessed with 48 wonderful years of marriage. He was a devoted husband and family man, who always put our needs before his own. They sacrificed and managed to send their children Juan and Analia to catholic school. He was very proud of them becoming independent and strong adults who completed their college education.

Some of the things Henry cherished were attending his grand children's sports games (Holy Cross HS and Providence HS), Easter celebrations at his parent's home, sweets, especially chocolates, playing cards, listening to Tejano music, and being surrounded by family.

He is survived by his wife Janie S. Vidal; children, Juan Enrique Vidal (Terry) and Analia V. Castillo (Fidencio), grandchildren Fidencio Castillo Jr (Desiree), Myranda E. Vidal, and Aliya M. Castillo, and great grandchildren Whitley Forrest and Beau River Castillo, sister Pauline Vidal as well as numerous family and friends.

Our family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for the kindness and compassion of Dr. Kimberly Heller and staff. Thank you for your dedication and love for Henry.
