Homer Bain Obituary
Reverend Homer A. Bain, Ph.D., born November 3, 1931, in Winter Haven, Florida, entered the Kingdom of Our Lord on November 10, 2013, at the age of 82. Among his numerous accomplishments, Dr. Bain, an ordained Methodist clergyman, served as Director of Education at the Ecumenical Center for Religion and Health, San Antonio, Texas, for 33 years. He also co-founded San Antonio's Metro Alliance and coordinated the San Antonio chapter of Contemplative Outreach. Dr. Bain pioneered Spanish language pastoral education in the U.S., Mexico and Puerto Rico.
Dr. Bain is survived by Irma, his beloved wife of 56 years; son Andrew Bain (Janice); daughter Yolanda Bain Barker (Matthew); sister Lehoma Goode; brother Donald Bain; grandchildren Ryan Bain, Preston Bain and Eilidh Barker; nieces, nephews, and his loving family in Mexico. Dr. Bain will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 15, 2013, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. A Reception will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Colonial Hills United Methodist Church ("CHUMC"). Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at ("CHUMC"). Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park South.
A special thank you to the hospice nurses at Adante, who provided compassionate care to Dr. Bain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a community ministry of your choice. You may sign the on-line guest book at www.missionparks.com under the obituary section.

Homer lived his life by the principles of John Wesley: “Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.” There are none more compassionate, generous and committed to making life better for the whole community. He will be missed and remembered.

Homer will be greatly missed. I have known this gentle and peaceful man over the course of 30 years and he has been a good friend, teacher and mentor in many ways.
