Horace Staph Obituary
Dr. Horace Eugene Staph, 95, San Antonio, TX passed away Friday July 1, 2016. Born in Petrolia Texas, January 8, 1921 to Eugene and Alice Staph, Horace graduated from Brackenridge High School, 1939, Rice Institute, 1943, UT-Austin, 1949 and University of Minnesota, 1959.
He taught engineering courses at UT-Austin (1946-1960) until moving to San Antonio to work at Southwest Research Institute where he worked until his retirement in 1986. He was a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Horace was a Cub Scout Leader, on the boards of SWRI Credit Union and Leon Valley Library, member of the San Antonio Woodworkers Guild and The Water Garden Club of South Texas and an active member of St Luke's Lutheran and Hope Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Adah Louise Staph Cooke. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Rachel Evelyn Ruth Staph and daughter Catherine Anderson (Stephen) of Seguin, sons Dana Staph (Linda) of Pflugerville and Eric Staph (Stephenie) of San Antonio and six grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, 5714 Callaghan Rd, 10am Saturday, 9 July 2016.

I had known DR. Staph since the 70's and he was always kind and helpful in every way possible. He will be sorely missed by his family and by all who knew him. May GOD bless.

I worked with Horace for many years. He was an active member of the local ASME section, served as Chairman several times and was always ready to help. I will miss his cheerful helpfulness everywhere I interacted with Horace.

Dr. Staph was one of my favorite persons. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him in Leon Valley. Hope he has a fish pond where he's going!
