Hortensia McConnell died after a short illness on May 24, 2021.
Hortensia was born in San Antonio on May 4, 1929, to Carlos Holguin and Sofia Johns.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen, Veronica (Dwight), Carlos, Gabrielle (Lee), Douglas II, and Gavin (Debbie); brother, Omar Holguin (Irene); sisters, Lucille Polan, Jody Bartoli (Kearney); sisters-in-law Sylvia Holguin and Shirley Holguin; grandchildren, Hunter and Ava McConnell and Brendan Billson.
Hortensia was preceded in death by her sister Martha; brother Louis and his wife Betty; brothers Albert and Peter; and brothers-in-law Bob Polan and Charles Galloway.
Hortensia attended Incarnate Word and UT Austin, where she received a degree in linguistics, and where she met and married her husband, Douglas. She enjoyed classical music and painting. Hortensia was a compassionate woman who loved the company of her family above all else.
Funeral service will be held Friday, July 16th at 10:50 am, at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 13715 Riggs Rd, Helotes, TX
